Conlan's Baby Blog

Welcome to Conlan's Baby Blog!

I created this to blog to share pictures and milestones with family and friends, as our little boy grows this year.

If you are not familiar with how blogs work, you can navigate through different pages by clicking on their titles at the right of the screen. For example: On the right of the screen under the Blog Archive, click on "Welcome to Conlan's Baby Blog". If it isn't showing up, click on the month June and it should show up then. Under the Blog Archive list there are other titles you can click on, such as "Conlan's Birth Story". Each title will bring you to a different page that will include a brief summary of what has gone on and pictures.

Conlan's Birth Story

Conlan's Birth Story

My water broke at 2:30am while laughing at Gavin being unintentionally funny.  He was up late working in bed and I could no longer enjoy a good night’s sleep because I was huge and uncomfortable.  We were 4 days away from Conlan's due date and very excited, but I had given up hope on having him early.  I was sure I was destined to go beyond my due date and grow so large that Gavin would have to load me into a wheel barrow in order to roll me to the bathroom.  Luckily for both of us, that didn't happen!

I was laughing and I felt a pop.  It was subtle, but I was concerned that I pulled a muscle in my tummy while giggling at my husband.  I asked Gavin to help me out of bed, so I could investigate.  As I made my way to the bathroom, it happened.  I knew right away and sounded the alarm for Gavin to get us ready.  After taking a shower, making sure my bags were collected, and sending off a couple of emails to customers and colleagues, I was out the door.  We arrived at the hospital at 4:30am and the event we had been waiting for kicked off.

I wasn't dilated at all, so my doctor wanted to start Pitocin in order to get my contractions going.  I requested that I receive an epidural first and they complied.  The epidural was glorious.  I thought it just numbed you, but it made me giggly, then sleepy.  I was the most relaxed I have ever been and given the circumstances, that was a miracle.  Gavin and I happily watched comedy specials on Netflix (we brought a computer with us) on and off for 16 hours as my fabulously pain free labor progressed.  At 6:40pm Conlan was born after 15 minutes of pushing.

Conlan's first picture!  This was taken seconds after entering the world.

Conlan's first visitors were Grandma Becky and Grandpa Dave.  They drove down while we were still in the hospital for a visit, which was wonderful because someone needed to give Gavin a break from me!  They brought me flowers and Conlan presents which included a fabulous little baseball jersey and baseball book.  I think Grandpa might be grooming him for a baseball scholorship.  You can never start too early!

Pictures of their visit to come.
